2-Alarm fire in Northbrook, 1-16-19
Early Wednesday morning (January 16, 2019), just before 6:30 AM, emergency responders from Northbrook, along with mutual aid teams, were dispatched to a reported house explosion located at 2563 Melanie Lane. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that one home was completely engulfed in flames, with fire spreading to neighboring structures on both sides. A Box Alarm was initially called for, followed by a second alarm, which brought additional units from much of Division 3 to the scene.
The original house was entirely destroyed, while one adjacent building sustained significant internal damage. Firefighters managed to confine the fire to another house, limiting the interior harm to what seemed like minor issues. Northbrook’s Tower 12 and Glenview’s Truck 14 utilized elevated master streams to combat the blaze, while Glenview Engine 8, Northbrook Engine 10, and Northbrook Squad 11 coordinated their efforts to pump water onto the inferno.
