Twenty-two new tire brands influx into Southeast Asia

Recently, the German market research organization GfK Consumer Product Market Survey Company conducted a follow-up survey of tire sales outlets in Southeast Asia.

The data shows that 22 new tire brands have entered the Thai, Malaysian, Filipino and Indonesian markets since 2015.

The influx of these new brand tires has exacerbated the competition in the tire markets of some of the four major cities in the above four countries, forcing some of the weaker manufacturers to exit the market.

In 2016, the number of tire brands in Malaysia and the Philippines were as high as 61 and 59, respectively, and 51 in the Thai market. The Indonesian market has fewer brands and only 24 can be seen.

Demand for tires in Southeast Asia continues to grow, but due to the new influx of branded promotions, the overall price of tires has dropped.

In Southeast Asia, various tire manufacturers implement different price levels, so that consumers have more choices.

However, this marketing strategy is a "double-edged sword." After the price falls, tire manufacturers are required to withstand the risk of diluting brand equity and weakening brand value.
