ABB launches emission monitoring module
Recently, ABB launched an emission monitoring module that will help users monitor emissions in accordance with the monitoring report and verification (MRV) rules that came into effect on January 1, 2018.
ABB's monitoring report and verification module has been certified by Verifavia, an independent certification body, as a tool that will monitor all parameters on board to comply with EU monitoring reports and verification rules. The monitoring report and verification module meets the software requirements of the EU-related authorization and implementation actions N°2015/757 and ISO IEC 25051.
As a standardized compliance monitoring report and verification software platform, ABB's modules will collect and visualize ship fuel consumption and CO2 emissions data from shipborne sensors based on each voyage. This information is then used to prepare an annual emissions report based on the monitoring report and verification rules for any ship or shipping company where it is required to register for a vessel of more than 5,000 gross tonnage in a European port.
