3-Alarm house fire in Evanston, 1-4-18 (more)

On January 4, 2018, a three-alarm fire broke out at 2865 Sheridan Place in Evanston. Larry Shapiro captured powerful video and photo coverage of the incident, offering a vivid look at the intense firefighting efforts. At the scene, numerous emergency units responded, including all Evanston fire engines, both fire trucks, Squad 21, two ambulances, the chief, deputy, battalion chief, and off-duty chiefs. Additional support came from neighboring departments such as Wilmette Engine 2600 and Tower 26, Winnetka Engine 28, Northfield Engine 29, Park Ridge Engine 36, Niles Engine 2, Morton Grove Squad 4, Skokie Battalion and Tower 16, Des Plaines Tower 61, and Glenview Engine 13. The images show heavy smoke and flames engulfing the home, with firefighters working tirelessly to contain the blaze. You can see firefighters on the roof, using axes, operating a Pierce aerial ladder, and directing master streams from high above. There are also shots of Evanston FD Engine 23, firefighters moving a large diameter hose (LDH), and even one capturing a firefighter in full protective gear with a hose and ice after the winter fire. A special moment was captured of Shift Commander Bill Muno overseeing the operation. These photos give a real sense of the scale and intensity of the event.
