Fast 12- and 16-speed transmissions advance into high-end markets

Fast Group stands out in the domestic automobile transmission industry as the only company primarily focused on double countershaft transmissions, while also offering single countershaft options. This unique approach allows for a comprehensive range of high-, medium-, and low-end heavy-duty transmissions, enabling scientific product development, diversification, and full-scale growth. Fast's double countershaft transmissions are highly regarded both domestically and internationally for their stable quality, excellent performance, strong load capacity, cost-effectiveness, and ease of service. As a result, they have become the standard for most heavy-duty vehicles in China. Over the past three years, Fast has launched over 40 new heavy-duty transmission products with fully independent intellectual property rights. More than 20 of these series have received national invention patents. These products are characterized by clear market positioning, high technological content, and superior cost-performance. They provide the latest optimized configurations for upgrading the heavy truck market and meet the growing demand for large-tonnage trucks. The Fast transmission line now includes more than 20 series and hundreds of models, covering all 5 to 16-speed transmission ranges. Each gear can be equipped with synchronizers and is widely compatible with various inputs. With torque ranging from 500 to 3,000 Nm and load capacities between 5 to 50 tons, these transmissions are selected as fixed-point support products by over 40 domestic OEMs and are exported to countries such as the United States, Australia, Eastern Europe, South America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. Among these, the 12-speed and 16-speed dual countershaft transmission series developed through independent innovation are the most representative. Their key technologies and core components have reached international advanced levels, filling the gap in China’s multi-range mechanical heavy-duty transmission production and breaking through the intellectual property barriers set by multinational corporations. This has created a competitive advantage for large-scale development. The 12-speed and 16-speed dual countershaft transmissions are high-end products developed by Fast over five years to meet the evolving needs of the Chinese market. They feature complete independent intellectual property rights, advanced design, and improved operation efficiency, offering stronger power, smoother shifting, lower fuel consumption, and reduced noise. These features reflect the cutting-edge level of domestic transmission manufacturing. Almost all new models of national triple-duty trucks introduced by domestic heavy truck manufacturers are equipped with Fast’s 12-speed and 16-speed dual countershaft transmissions, showcasing the brand's strong market influence. As a mature and well-adapted product, the 12-speed and 16-speed dual countershaft transmissions meet the demands of both domestic and international heavy truck markets. In 2007, sales of these two models exceeded 50,000 units. Major customers include FAW, Dongfeng, Sinotruk, Shaanxi Auto, Sichuan Auto, Beiqi Foton, North Benz, and Hualing Auto—nearly all major heavy truck OEMs. These transmissions not only support engines with 320, 420, and 480 horsepower but also provide technical reserves for future 15-liter and 16-liter engines capable of delivering 500 and 600 horsepower. With the development of national emission standards (levels 3 and 4), engine speeds are decreasing, requiring more gears to compensate. For example, engines that previously ran at 2200 or 2300 rpm are now required to operate at 1900 or even 1800 rpm under stricter regulations. This necessitates more transmission gears to maintain vehicle performance, including maximum climbing ability and speed. Fast’s 12-speed and 16-speed dual countershaft transmissions fully satisfy this requirement. Additionally, as fuel prices rise, more gears in mechanical transmissions lead to higher power utilization and lower fuel consumption. This makes Fast’s 12-speed and 16-speed dual countershaft transmissions increasingly popular in the market, ensuring their continued leadership in the industry.
