Canadian potash marketing alliance Canpotex Ltd. said Tuesday it signed a potash supply contract with Sinochem Fertilizer Holdings Limited, in the second quarter of 2012, according to the price level of last year, providing 500,000 tons of potash fertilizer to Sinochem. The contract also includes the option to add 200,000 tons of supply during the same period. The supply contract played a big role in promoting potash fertilizer producers in Canada and Russia. Over the past few months, the global potash fertilizer market has generally been depressed. Some large potash miners have rushed to reduce production in order to raise prices.
