The Fortress Box Frame Slide Gate, manufactured by TYMETAL, is a robust cantilever system designed to withstand the forces of gravity and wind. This system utilizes box frame construction combined with stainless steel cables for enhanced durability and stability. The diagonal cross members help eliminate lateral sway, ensuring smooth operation. The design features are tailored to handle single gates up to 60 feet in width and double gates up to 120 feet, effectively managing potential stresses on the gate structure.
Box Frame Gates are constructed from high-quality 6063-T6 aluminum alloy extrusions. The primary members (top and bottom) have a "P" shaped cross-section, providing structural integrity. Vertical members alternate between 2â€x2†and 1â€x2†cross-sections, spaced at intervals not exceeding the overall height of the box frame. The frames are built in a "box" form, with a 24†distance between them from outside to outside.
Each frame includes a track made of extruded aluminum alloy, welded to the primary member, allowing the gate to operate smoothly. The gate is supported by four self-aligning, 4-wheeled, sealed lubricant ball-bearing truck assemblies. Cross bracing with 3/16†minimum diameter stainless steel cable ensures vertical adjustment and structural stability.
For special applications with limited backspace or larger openings, telescoping or roller box frame gates are available. These options provide flexibility and adaptability to various installation requirements.

**Part 1 – General:**
- The work in this section shall include furnishing all labor, materials, equipment and appliances necessary to complete all Fortress TYM-VS2-1 Box Frame Gate System(s) required for this project in strict accordance with this specification section and drawings. The gate and operator shall be specifically designed to complement each other as a system and be provided by a single manufacturer. Components (operator from one source and gate panel from another) assembled at the job site to form a system will not be approved.
- References include UL 325 Gate Operator Requirements, ASTM F 2200 Standard Specification for Automated Vehicular Gate Construction, ASTM F 1184 Standard Specification for Industrial and Commercial Horizontal Slide Gates, Type II, Class 2, and American Welding Society AWS D1.2 Structural Welding Code.
- Submittal includes product data, shop drawings, certification of performance criteria, and certifications.
**Part 2 – Products:**
- The cantilever sliding gate system shall be manufactured by TYMETAL.
- The slide gate operator as provided by TYMETAL shall open and close cantilever, overhead, or track gates, to provide convenience and security.
- Capacity: The gate operator shall be rated to operate a gate weighing up to 2500 lbs.
- Design Criteria: Operation shall be by means of a 1HP pulse width modulated variable frequency instant reversing motor, transferring power to a heavy-duty right angle oil bath gear reducer.
- Components include standard mechanical and electrical components, optional components, and accessories.
**Part 3 – Execution:**
- Site Inspection: Examine final grades and installation conditions.
- Installation: Install equipment in strict accordance with the company’s printed instructions.
- System Acceptance & Validation: Test each system function, explain safety features, and ensure proper operation.

**Warranty:**
