Autodesk signs EU AI Pact to support responsible AI development

Autodesk has committed to implementing the principles of the new EU AI Act before it comes into effect. This decision reflects the company’s dedication to responsible and trustworthy AI development, aligning with broader efforts to ensure that artificial intelligence benefits society in a safe and ethical manner. The AI Act is a landmark regulatory framework introduced by the European Union in August 2024. It aims to establish clear guidelines for AI developers and deployers, particularly focusing on high-risk applications. By setting out specific requirements and obligations, the Act encourages the creation of reliable AI systems that can be trusted across Europe and beyond. As a pioneer in AI innovation, Autodesk has been investing in artificial intelligence for over a decade. The company has consistently worked to integrate AI into its products, enhancing creative workflows, automating repetitive tasks, and offering advanced analytical tools to support better decision-making. Through this journey, Autodesk has prioritized building integrity and trust into its AI solutions. This month, Autodesk became one of the first signatories of the EU AI Pact, joining more than 100 other companies in committing to the responsible development of AI. At a ceremony in Brussels on September 25, Clémence Arto, Director of EMEA Government Affairs and Public Policy at Autodesk, and Anthony Ruto, Senior Director of Research Engineering, had the opportunity to engage with EU officials and fellow signatories. Their participation underscores Autodesk's commitment to shaping a future where AI is not only powerful but also ethical and transparent. The EU AI Pact is an initiative led by the European Commission, encouraging companies to voluntarily adopt practices that promote safe and trustworthy AI development ahead of the AI Act's full implementation. Signatories agree to take key actions, such as developing an AI governance strategy, identifying high-risk AI systems, and promoting AI literacy within their organizations. Beyond the AI Pact, Autodesk is actively involved in various initiatives aimed at fostering trusted AI across industries. These include participation in the U.S. AI Safety Institute Consortium (AISIC) led by NIST and the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), both of which aim to enhance transparency and trust in AI technologies. “AI is set to redefine how we interact with technology,” said Mike Haley, Senior Vice President of Research at Autodesk. “We commend the EU for taking a proactive approach in regulating AI to ensure it contributes positively to society. Autodesk is committed to using AI as a force for good, transforming the way we design, build, and innovate.” Looking ahead, Autodesk remains dedicated to advancing the use of trusted AI, sharing progress, learning from others, and continuing to lead through example. The company is excited to contribute to a future where AI is not only powerful but also aligned with ethical values and societal needs. View the full list of signatories.
