Roberts Park FPD Full Still Structure Fire, 3/1/2014
So I just got back from checking out this fire that happened super close to where I live. It was at 7310 Blackstone in Justice, IL, on the second floor of an apartment building. I managed to drive over there pretty quickly, and when I got there, I saw crews from Roberts Park, Bedford Park, Bridgeview, Burbank, and Oak Lawn all on the scene. It was quite the operation. Anyway, I snapped a few pics while I was there, and I figured I’d share them since they might give people a better idea of what went down.

*This is one of the first images I took as I arrived. You can see the fire engines lined up and ready to go.*

*Here’s another shot from slightly further away. The smoke was pretty thick at this point.*

*This image shows more of the surrounding area. You get a sense of how close it all got to being a much bigger disaster.*

*Another angle of the fire trucks and emergency personnel working hard to contain things. Everyone seemed really focused and professional.*

*A closer look at part of the building that was affected. It’s crazy to think about how quickly flames can spread in situations like this.*

*Since it’s been cold lately, the fire trucks had a bit of frost on them. Just added an interesting element to the whole scene.*

*This last photo gives you a different perspective of the aftermath. There’s definitely a lot of work ahead for the folks who live here.*
I’ve got a few more photos over on my Facebook page if anyone wants to check those out too. It’s always tough to see places you know well dealing with something like this, but thankfully no one majorly injured as far as I heard. Let’s hope everyone gets back on their feet soon!
