Addison Fire District photo history
In what is now the largest photo gallery ever featured, a new historical collection of the Addison Fire District’s equipment and stations has been added to the site. This collection can be accessed via the “Historic Gallery†button on each of the current station pages. The gallery showcases a wide range of fire apparatus, including vintage trucks from the 1950s, as well as older staff cars and ambulances. These images were generously contributed by Bill Friedrich and Larry Shapiro, who have long been passionate about preserving the legacy of the Addison Fire Department.
The contrast between the 1965 Ford F-700 used for Squad 107 and the modern 1994 Pierce Lance that replaced it is striking. The earlier model was more basic in design and function, while the newer unit reflected advancements in technology and safety standards.
Another highlight in the gallery is a 1961 GMC Howe pumper, which served on Squad 108. This piece of history gives a glimpse into how fire equipment has evolved over the decades.
