From the telegraph.com: We were deeply saddened to learn about the tragic incident involving Godfrey Fire Captain Jake Ringering. The community is coming together to honor his memory and support his family during this difficult time. Jake Ringering, 37, tragically lost his life while responding to a residential fire on Culp Lane in Bethalto. Firefighter Luke Warner, who was also injured in the same incident, remains in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery on Wednesday. Authorities continue their investigation at the scene of the blaze located at 4604 Culp Lane, with expectations that it will extend into the following week. The funeral service for Captain Ringering is scheduled for Tuesday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Visitation hours are set from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 11th, where members of the Godfrey Fire Protection District will hold a special walk-through beginning at 6 p.m. The funeral mass will commence at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, officiated by Reverend Jeremy Paulin. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made payable to "Benefiting the Jake Ringering Family," which can be deposited directly into an account established at Carrolton Bank, located at 120 Homer Adams Parkway, Alton, Illinois, 62002. Various fundraising events have been organized to help both families affected by this tragedy. On Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., there will be a collection drive held at the Godfrey McDonald's. Additionally, donations will be accepted on Monday, March 11th starting at 11 a.m. at Bakers & Hale. A longer event spanning from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13th, will take place at Roma’s Pizza in Bethalto. Contributions are also being received at several local police departments including those in Alton, Bethalto, East Alton, Jerseyville, and Wood River. A separate fund has been initiated specifically for the benefit of Luke Warner. Those wishing to donate should address their contributions to "Benefiting the Luke Warner Family" and send them to the same Carrolton Bank location mentioned earlier.
