Demers Ambulances and Lion Electric Launch All-Electric Ambulance
The collaboration between Demers Ambulances and Lion Electric has resulted in a groundbreaking innovation—the first all-electric, purpose-built ambulance known as the Demers eFX Ambulance. This remarkable vehicle made its debut recently and is set to hit the market in the latter part of 2022. The project has been a joint effort involving extensive contributions from both companies, with additional guidance from paramedics and emergency services across North America. Funded in part by the government of Quebec and the National Research Council of Canada’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP), this initiative has taken nearly five years to come to fruition. The Lion5 chassis will be assembled in Saint-Jérôme by Lion Electric, while the final assembly of the medical compartments will take place in Beloeil under Demers Ambulances. This ambitious partnership aims to deploy at least 1,500 fully electric ambulances within the next five years, marking a significant step forward in sustainable transportation for emergency services.
