Demers Ambulances and Lion Electric Launch All-Electric Ambulance

The collaboration between Demers Ambulances and Lion Electric has resulted in a groundbreaking innovation—the first all-electric, purpose-built ambulance known as the Demers eFX Ambulance. This remarkable vehicle made its debut recently and is set to hit the market in the latter part of 2022. The project has been a joint effort involving extensive contributions from both companies, with additional guidance from paramedics and emergency services across North America. It’s clear that the Demers eFX Ambulance has been meticulously crafted with the input of those who will actually be using it. Funded in part by the government of Quebec and the National Research Council of Canada’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP), this initiative has taken nearly five years to come to fruition. The Lion5 chassis will be assembled in Saint-Jérôme by Lion Electric, while the final assembly of the medical compartments will take place in Beloeil under Demers Ambulances. This ambitious partnership aims to deploy at least 1,500 fully electric ambulances within the next five years, marking a significant step forward in sustainable transportation for emergency services. One of the standout features of the Demers eFX Ambulance is its unique design tailored specifically for ambulance use. Unlike traditional models, this vehicle offers enhanced ergonomics, safety, and efficiency, ensuring greater comfort for both paramedics and patients alike. A particularly innovative aspect lies in its custom-designed chassis, which has been thoughtfully engineered to address common challenges faced by paramedics during transit, such as providing care to patients while remaining securely seated with a seatbelt on. Demers Ambulances' R&D team, in collaboration with experienced paramedics, has introduced several groundbreaking features that are expected to revolutionize how ambulances operate. These advancements not only improve workflow but also prioritize the well-being of healthcare providers and their patients. As these details continue to unfold, it's evident that this partnership is setting a new standard for the future of emergency response vehicles. Looking ahead, the Demers eFX Ambulance isn’t just limited to North America; its global potential is vast, given that Demers Ambulances and its associated brands currently serve 43 countries. With its cutting-edge technology and forward-thinking approach, this all-electric ambulance is poised to transform the way emergency services operate worldwide. Thanks for sharing, Martin! It’s exciting to see how these innovations can positively impact so many lives.
